Im currently rebushing the whole car, a 98 model UKDM EK3 Honda Civic using Energy Suspensions master bushing kit (#16.18110).

I fitted the front lca kit #16.3114 & #16-8102 but am a little concerned by the shortness of the sleeve. Does this look ok?

The instructions referred to drawings of a 92-95 EG Honda Civic/94-00 DC2 Integra style front lca. I had a spare one of these and have used this for comparison in the pictures. The bushing housing on the EG/DC2 front lca isn't as wide as that of the EK front control arm. Because of this the sleeve doesn't sit flush with the outside edge of the ES bushing as shown in the diagram. It maybe that this is universal sleeve as there is only about 0.5" difference between the width of the EK lca and EG/DC2 lca bushing housing.

Im a bit weary that the bushing excess over the sleeve is going to get tawn/ripped/damaged (especially in the case of the shot fork).

As far as Im aware the USDM 96-00 Civics have the same front lca design as that of the UKDM and this is definitely the correct master bush set for the 6th gen Civic.

Ive tried emailing ES but have not had a reply. Any feedback would by much appreciated. I just hope IM not going to have to press the damn things out again  Angry

Ok I see that the USDM 6th Gen Civic has different front lower control arms for the 96-00 CX,LX,DX and EX to the 99-00 Civic Si, how completely confusing.
Can someone please tell me if there are any other differences between 6th Gen master bush sets? Which kits do I need to properly bush the front LCA on Si type front LCAs and how much is this shipped to the UK?

Goba,

Firstly, I apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced.

Can you provide me with the overall length of the problem sleeve?  It should be ~ 2.3" or 58.4mm in length.

We do not have any "universal sleeves".  All of our sleeves are cut to fit each application.  It is possible that you received the wrong sleeve entirely, but judging from the information you provided and some quick research, it sounds like you have a different control arm.

Just to add to this, My car is an Ek3 (Japan built) Civic, I believe you have EJ/EM chassis codes in the US and Canada (N.American built). I am also 100% sure after doing some reading that the EK3 has the same lca/damper fork as the EK4, EK9 and USDM 99-00 EM1 Civic Si (coupe) - this is the stamped two-piece front LCA which takes a wider damper fork rather than the cast two-piece.

I know you'll probably see this Nate but ill PM it to you so you have it with my other msg's. Would be really good if ES could include chasis code prefixes (i.e. EK4, EK9, EM1 etc) for us guys living outside of America.

Thanks

Chris

Chris,

Here are the differences between the two kits:

96-00 Civic and CRX
16.18110
FCA  16.3114
Front Sway Bar 16.5121
Rear Sway Bar   N/A
Manual Trans Shifter  16.1102

99-00 Civic Si
16.18109
FCA 16.3115
Front Shock 16.8111
Front Sway 16.5130
Rear Sway 16.5107
Manual Trans 16.1101

The non-listed kits are the same for both master kits.

This is a picture of the two LCA bushings for the two different arms.  The one on the right is the SI bushing.

Did the shock bushing fit in your arm (16.8102)?  If not, you probably need kit 16.8111.

Ive just emailed you. Both bushing inserts were too short.

Nate, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

Ok so I pressed out the (two) ES bushings and inserts in each EK civic lower control arm.

Just to recap I removed the inserts because both were far too short as shown in the pictures I posted.

The ES inserts lengths and diameters were:

Insert1: Length: 50mm (1.96"), Outside Diameter: 20mm (0.78")
Insert2: Length: 50mm (1.96"), Outside Diameter: 25mm (0.98")

I have also sent Jeff Bonnett (EnergyGeek) an email as I haven't had a response from you to the email sent on the 16th February.

Can we get the pictures working again? I think I might be in the same boat on this one.

This issue was finally resolved via email.  I will see if I can get that information posted on the forum.
