Hi, I bought a little Nissan pickup recently for $2500. It is the V6 XE and had 196K miles on it when I got it. About 3 ball joints were shot, CV boots were damaged and various other little things that were just let go and have added up to a big job. I don't mind it. However, I bought the complete control arm bushing set for both driver and passenger sides. I bought the sway bar bushing set, (which came with the end link bushings and hardware) very nice indeed. I wish I had known that before I bought it  Sad. I had already bought the end links and bushings and replaced them. Oh well.  Now here is my problem. I tore into the job and everything was in the kit that should be. I compared old bushings and hardware to the new and I can say that I am pleased with the kits. I removed the lower control arm and removed something referred to in the repair manual as a (COMPRESSION  ROD), this is similar to a tension rod but definitely not the same thing. I have searched the Energy Suspension website and Googled for hours. I cannot find any information about compression rod bushings or even how or where to get a whole replacement rod with hardware. For those who may not be familiar with a Nissan pickup. The lower control arm compression rod attaches to the rear of the control arm using two large bolts. The threaded end of the rod runs through the frame mount and it is then secured to the frame using two bushings, two large washers and a metal sleeve and a nut. I know that this suspension system is very common on trucks that  have IFS, but it just seems like no one has ever wanted to replace these rubber bushings with new ones. I would like to know if I have overlooked a bushing set that will work for this application. If not, is there something that energy suspension makes that could be used to replace this set? I would love to know about it. I have pictures and measurements. I can e-mail them on request. I really do not want to reuse these old bushings. They are in pretty bad shape, and so is the metal sleeve that inserts into these bushings.

This is the compression rod and the control arm after they were cleaned. This assembly was taken off the driver's side.

This is the compression rod by itself. In this picture I have the compression rod, bushings, washers, and nut. I left the sleeve out.
The sleeve has deep grooves worn into and and it is very rusty.

The sleeve that isn't pictured is a standard sleeve with no teeth, it is 2" 7/16" long. 7/8" in dia.

The Bushings are 2" in outer diameter, 13/16" in inner diameter and it is 1" 1/16" in height.

Vector,

You need Energy Suspension kit number 7.7106.  This kit includes two bushings and a sleeve.

In our catalog, we list it as a Strut Rod Bushing Kit.  Sometimes the nomenclature between OEM and our catalog are different.  Sorry for the inconvenience!

Kossak,

Thanks for your reply. Was beginning to think I would have to leave my truck on jack stands for a while... lol. As far as the

nomenclature between OEM and your catalog, I  am unsure of the part's proper name. I got the name from the description

found in the Haynes repair manual. When that  is all you have to go off of for a reference, finding information can be difficult.

I wasn't even able to find the name for it from an OEM parts supplier.  I didn't try the dealer... they scare my wallet.  Embarrassed

Thank you again for your time!

Kossak, I got the kit. lol I took your advice and thought I needed to order two sets. One set consists of 4 bushings and 2 sleeves, so one set is enough to do both sides of the vehicle. Now I have an extra set I am not sure what to do with.
