Hi i recieved my energy suspension front bushing kit #3.3160 to suit my 66 nova. the instructions say the lower control arm bushing will push apart fairly easily before installation. I have been using a drift and hammer it wont budge are these instructions correct?
The upper control arm bushings pulled apart easily as per instruction.
The lower control arm bushing has a thrust washer on either side i cannot remove these can anyone please explain how to pull these bushings apart?

Hi the instructions which came with the bushing kit says to disassemble the new bushings  so that they dont get damaged and can be lubricated before they are installed . Im not going to apply heat to my new bushings and burn them out LOL
The upper bushings come apart easily the lower ones dont i phoned one of energy suspensions tech reps he said the lower ones dont come apart so why enclose misleading car specific instructions?
this is the instructions for the lower control arm bushings:
INSTALLATION: To ease installation of new shell, First take apart the
assembly. The new bushing is not bonded and will push apart fairly easy. Using
this method will ensure that you don’t damage the new polyurethane bushings
when pressing in the new shells. Now install just the shell into the arm. Grease
I.D. of shell. Grease bushing and install in shell. Grease sleeve and install in
bushing. Press cap washers onto ends of sleeve. Install control arm with
supplied Thrustwasher witch is designed to prevent the new shell from making
contact with the mounting flanges. Re-torque to hardware to factory
specifications.
here is the link to the instructions

I misunderstood your question. I thought you were trying to remove the factory bushing from the factory shell, my bad.

He is correct in saying that the shells don't slip off too easily and the instructions are Par at best sometimes.  I would almost recommend to vise down the flange end of the urethane and grip the shell with some channel locks but try not to dent the shell.  It's a pain I know and I will continue to try and help you with this.

Let me know if you have had any success.
